27 confirmed dead as floodwaters recede in central Texas

Jarida Report

Central Texas, northwest of San Antonio, witnessed a devastating flash flood early Friday when intense overnight storms dumped up to a foot of rain in hours. The Guadalupe River surged nearly 29 feet in some areas, sweeping away homes, vehicles, and damaging several summer camps. Authorities have confirmed 27 deaths—including nine children—and evacuated over 800 people. Rescuers are racing to find dozens still missing, especially at Camp Mystic, where at least 23–27 girls remain unaccounted for. With floodwaters now subsiding, search operations continue under a flood watch through Saturday evening.
