Govt Denies Rumors of President Zardari Resigning

Jarida Report

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has shut down rumors that President Asif Ali Zardari is stepping down, calling the claims completely baseless and part of a “fake, malicious campaign.” Speaking to reporters, Naqvi said there’s no truth to the reports that the president was asked to resign and insisted that Zardari’s relationship with the military and government leadership remains strong and respectful.

He also quoted Zardari as saying he knows exactly who’s behind the rumors and what their motives are. Naqvi stressed that Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir is focused solely on the country’s stability and has nothing to do with such political games.

Meanwhile, PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui also weighed in, calling the resignation buzz “pure fiction” and dismissing it as political gossip. He said the PPP and PML-N are working smoothly together in the coalition government, and there’s no friction that would lead to such a drastic step.
