Two Mansehra Cops Suspended After Torture Allegation by Motorcyclist

Jarida Report

The police chief in Mansehra has suspended two constables after a man accused them of illegally detaining and torturing him. Mohammad Tahir, a motorcyclist, claims he was stopped on July 3 by Quick Response Force officials, taken to the police station without any explanation, and beaten overnight. He also says they seized his bike and forced him to sign a document promising not to speak out.

District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur responded quickly, suspending the two constables—identified as Ibrar Shah and Mohammad Waheed—and ordering an inquiry. A committee, led by SP Resham Jehangir, has been given three days to investigate the incident.

The DPO said there is zero tolerance for police abuse, promising that strict action will be taken if the complaint is proven true.
