Charred Bodies and Shattered Lives After Gunmen Slaughter Dozens in Central Nigeria

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders attacked Yelwata village in Benue State on Friday night, killing around 100 residents and burning many homes and market buildings, leaving charred remains throughout the area  . Survivors like Fidelis Adidi, who lost five family members, described returning the next day to find loved ones “charred beyond recognition” amid blackened food stores  . President Tinubu denounced the atrocity as “depressing” and plans to visit the region, while aid agencies are assisting approximately 3,000 displaced people
