Pakistan–U.S. Trade Talks on Reciprocal Tariffs to Conclude Next Week

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick held a virtual meeting confirming that negotiations over reciprocal tariffs will wrap up by next week  . These discussions aim to address a 29% U.S. tariff on Pakistani exports—stemming from a $3 billion trade surplus in 2024—while exploring a strategic economic partnership  . Islamabad has proposed increasing imports of U.S. goods (like crude oil) and incentivizing American investments in mining and the $7 billion Reko Diq project  .
