PM Shehbaz Urges ECO Member Nations to Unify on Climate, Trade & Security

At the 17th ECO Summit in Khankendi, Azerbaijan on July 4, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged stronger regional cooperation to tackle global challenges—highlighting climate change, geopolitical instability, and shared economic goals  . He proposed establishing low-emission transport corridors, a regional carbon market, and disaster-resilient systems to mobilize climate finance  . Sharif also condemned Israeli strikes on Iran, voiced support for Gaza, and warned against India’s “weaponization” of water via its stance on the Indus Waters Treaty  . On diplomatic sidelines, he held bilateral meetings with leaders from Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan to deepen investment and trade ties
