Senate Panel Urges Swift Completion of Islamabad Central Jail Project

On July 3, 2025, the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works, chaired by Senator Nasir Mehmood, pressed for the timely completion of the delayed Islamabad Central Jail facility in Sector H‑16. Originally assigned to the PWD in 2013 and reassigned to the CDA in 2024, the Rs 7.4 billion project is currently approximately 51 percent complete. While Rs 1.32 billion has been disbursed for FY 2024–25, an additional Rs 2.5 billion is urgently required to finish the remaining work within four months. The committee warned further delays would drive costs higher
