Trump Wavers on Striking Iran as Khamenei Rules Out Surrender

On June 18, 2025, former U.S. President Donald Trump maintained ambiguity over whether the U.S. might launch strikes on Iran, stating, “I may do it, I may not do it,” when discussing possible involvement in Israeli airstrikes during the Israel–Iran conflict  . He hinted that negotiations might be underway, while Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, firmly rejected any notion of surrender, warning that U.S. intervention would lead to “irreparable consequences”  . The exchange intensifies global concerns of a broader escalation.
