Music and songs have the power to shape our mood, whether they are joyful, downhearted, exciting, or anything in between. It is widely believed that music lovers can’t imagine a world without it. Without music, it would be difficult for music lovers to find emotional expression or escape.

Music and songs are related to each other, but they are somewhat different. Music contains its own types of sound art, and songs are a particular form of music that usually combine lyrics with a melody. They are called melodies, tracks, tunes, etc. A person’s music playlist can be a window into their inner world, revealing personal tastes, moods, and even life experiences.

Music has lyrics that tell a story, and all you have to do is listen closely. Different kinds of genres evoke different emotions. In short, music has the ability to shape and influence our emotions. Romantic music and songs often evoke joy and happiness, but they can stimulate a range of other emotions such as nostalgia, longing, melancholy, and hope. However, the impact of music depends significantly on its nature, and most importantly on the listener’s mood and personal perception.

People who listen to music a lot are probably trying to escape noise of their own minds and people around them

Music can be an ally because, unlike people, it supports individuals through every emotional state. In every phase of life, music shows its supportive gestures whether an individual is grappling with grief, feeling anxious, exhausted, or experiencing joy from falling in love. As per experts, music is beyond the language barrier, as listeners don’t have to learn any language to understand it. All we have to do is listen with our heart.

Through music, we can relive moments from our memories, helping to bring those memories out of the foggy recesses of our mind. Moreover, while listening to music, our imagination becomes crystal clear. We begin to see things with a fresh perspective and can journey far in our minds, where there’s no judgement, just us and our playlist enjoying each other’s company. I sometimes get jealous of musicians because they have the ability to create something we can sincerely feel.

Experts call music the greatest discovery. It’s the only thing that serves as a form of peace for humanity and some other species, with no side effects except making us think differently. It helps us make our emotions strong enough to carry our thoughts on our own. People who have no control over their thoughts begin to fall apart little by little, and when music reaches their messy minds, it calms storm of overpowering thoughts.

‘Somewhere, someone is searching for you in every person they meet’

There are many instruments, each with its own special sound and style that will take you into its own world. From the guitar to the piano, the violin, and the drum, every instrument adds its own unique touch to music. The flute and saxophone create different kinds of melodies, while the sitar and trumpet offer their own magical flavours. The spinet and harmonium are among those instruments that bring their own special sounds. Each one gives you a new way to enjoy music.

People who listen to music a lot are probably trying to escape the noise of their own minds and the people around them. It’s natural to expect something from music and songs that we might not find in our interactions with others. We no longer have to live in fear of being betrayed by someone or having our hearts broken. As long as you have music, you will feel less lonely, whether during the times of sorrow or joy. Having music with you feels like having an understanding companion. Above all, it supports us without judgement.

We may not like every instrument, song, or piece of music. There is no right or wrong here, just personal preferences. Accept this and move forward. Just as the right song or piece of music will find you, the right person will come into your life and support you without judgement. Until that happens, let music be your companion and ally, easing your worries during ‘tough’ times. As the saying goes, “somewhere, someone is searching for you in every person they meet”.
